Painted pet portraits are a beautiful way to celebrate, honor, or memorialize your beloved pet. In this beginner-friendly class, you will create an acrylic painting of your pet based on a reference photo. In the process, you will learn techniques for accurately reproducing an image as well as adding your own personal imagination and style to the portrait. Every student will complete a pet portrait by the end of two sessions. We will also use group discussion to share and learn from one another. This class is open to adults, as well as kids ages 11+ to attend with an adult.

Every session will utilize different art media and creative prompts, as well as opportunities for self-reflection, collaboration, and sharing. Within the safe structure of the class, we will take an exploratory, experimental approach that focuses as much on the experience of making art as the end result. Winter Solstice Workshop

Date: Sunday, December 21, 2025
Time: 9:30 AM – 12:15 PM
All Levels, Ages 16 year through adult
A transformative workshop celebrating the winter solstice, a significant moment in our annual cycle when we experience the longest hours of darkness, marking the return of light and the gradual lengthening of days. This time invites deep reflection on the balance between light and shadow, urging us to honor themes of renewal, rebirth, and personal awakening as we prepare for the new year.
Participants will engage in guided meditation, thoughtful writing exercises, and creative art-making to explore their individual journeys. We'll create a nurturing space to examine what we wish to release from our pasts and set intentions for the coming year, focusing on our needs and desires as we embrace the light ahead.
The workshop will culminate in a serene walk to the Winifred Lutz Solstice Tower, where we'll gather to witness the first light of the season streaming through the tower at noon, symbolizing hope and new beginnings. Join us in celebrating this powerful seasonal transition and embrace the magic of the winter solstice!
